Experience the beauty of the undeveloped Big River Estuary and its wildlife aboard the Mendoléa Voyaging Canoe. Built from repurposed old-growth redwood,  Mendoléa uses state-of-the-art electric power and also deploys a downwind sail when conditions are favorable. The catamaran configuration is ultra stable, spacious, and easy to paddle if you wish to. This a private tour with only you and your friend(s) or family. Mendoléa holds from 2 to 6 persons with room for 2 large dogs, children of any age are welcome.

Relax and enjoy the silence as your professional guide maneuvers upriver. Watch for harbor seals, river otters, and great blue herons while enjoying the beauty of the Big River Canyon. The return trip against the prevailing wind is made effortless courtesy of the nearly silent electric drive. Tours last from 2 to 2 1/4 hours and leave from the Catch a Canoe dock at noon throughout the summer. The rate is $360 to reserve the boat with a guide.

A confirmation email with further details will be sent to you within 48 hours.

This is a very social boat. Everyone is close by and can talk to one another in the adjoining hull—fun!

Please note that this tour runs daily from June 15th through September 19th, 2024.

A note about Catch a Canoe and Bicycles Too:

The evolution of modern-day canoe design is prospering in Mendocino County. For 40 years, the Catch a Canoe design team has designed the most unique rental boats on the planet. Redwood outriggers are available in several configurations and hold from 2 to 10 people each. Many are pet-friendly and they are also perfect for families due to their rock-solid stability. A foot-operated rudder system allows easy control for both novice and experienced paddlers alike. In addition, the narrow efficient hull and float design, reduces the effort typically needed for canoe propulsion. Further information regarding rentals and tours in Big River State Park is available at the Stanford Inn’s Catch a Canoe & Bicycles Too, open daily from 9 to 5. 707 937-0273  www.catchacanoe.com  canoe@mcn.org
